Today’s class was all about creativity, texture, and exploring different ways nature can inspire design.
In the morning we experimented with monoprinting leaves using stamp ink pads to create beautiful natural patterns. Each print captured the unique veins and shapes of the leaves, turning simple foliage into delicate artwork. We then used these prints to design a handmade gift card with a matching envelope, creating something both personal and artistic.
We also explored leaf rubbings using oil and soft pastels, layering colour and texture to highlight the intricate details found in nature. It was fascinating to see how every leaf produced a completely different effect.
In the afternoon we shifted into a more reflective activity and began working on a mixed media vision board. Using our leaf prints from the morning alongside images, colours, and inspiring words cut from magazines, we started building boards that represent our goals, ideas, and sources of inspiration.
It was a wonderful day of experimenting with natural materials, mixed media, and creative expression.
