This week was all about texture, layering, and storytelling through mixed media. We created a patchwork quilt–inspired page using an assortment of papers—each piece carefully chosen and arranged to build a sense of cohesion from contrast. To bring everything together, we added hand-drawn sewing stitches, exploring how simple marks can mimic thread and evoke the warmth and nostalgia of traditional quilting.
In the afternoon session, we shifted gears and dove into the world of zines. We learned folding techniques and explored how these small, handmade booklets can be powerful forms of self-expression. Everyone had the chance to design and create their own zine, experimenting with layout, sequencing, and personal storytelling.
It was a day full of creativity, experimentation, and hands-on making—seeing each unique interpretation come to life was incredibly inspiring!
We will now take a 3 week break and return to classes on Monday 27th April 2026.
